| What is the Y.W.A? |
The Young Woman’s Auxiliary of the Baptist faith, whether in the local church,
the associational field, the district convention, or the state convention, is
the missionary organization for young women.
The Y.W.A. is an organization of young women engaged in mission study, personal
evaluation, and mission action. The Y.W.A works to involve young women in God’s
redemptive work in today’s world. It is a fellowship designed to help young
women to be God’s redeemed ones, and to work to bring others into the fellowship
of the redeemed. The Y.W.A. is an organization whose purpose is to more fully
and effectively involve young women in the work of the church.
The mission of the church is witnessing and winning. We are charged to witness
to a dying world that Jesus Christ is Savior, Redeemer, Friend, and Lord. The
work of the church is winning souls to Christ through teaching and ministering to
the needs of people. Mission is being redeemed, and then seeking to bring
others to Christ-crossing whatever barriers are standing between people and
reconciliation with God, with himself and with his fellowman. |
| What is generally considered the age of the young woman? |
From the state level: Any woman between the ages of 18 and 45 who is in good standing with a Baptist
church can be a member; however after they have passed the age of 45 they are
not allowed to hold an office.
From
the local and associational level: Baptist churches are autonomous bodies and
each is governed by the people, each operates differently. The state convention
does not have the authority to dictate its rules to any local church or
association. Therefore, the age of the local and association president may not
necessarily be in accordance with the mandates of the stated convention. I
recommend and strongly suggest that if your church adopts the constitution of
the stated, it would engaged in the totality of the mandates and not use the age
as an issue to remove person from office. |

| Pledge |
Keep us, O god from pettiness.
Let us be large in thoughts, in words, and in deeds.
Let us be done with fault finding and leaving off self seeking.
Let us dedicate our talents and give of our time, influence and means to
teaching or spreading the Christian religion at home and abroad.
To put into action our better impulses toward our fellowman.
To read the Bible daily and continue in prayer.
To these ends, we pledge to devote ourselves and seek divine aid and guidance
daily as we may become a living witness and a bright and shining light for our
Lord.
